Neel Anand, MD (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles). Dr. Anand is a deputy editor for the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He is an orthopedic spine surgeon and director of spine trauma at Cedars-Sinai Spine Center. He has a professional interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques for spinal disorders and trauma in adults and children. He is also actively involved in the development of emerging technologies involving non-fusion spinal surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society. He has been published extensively published in peer-reviewed publications, such as the Journal of Spinal Disorders and Journal of Orthopedic Trauma. Dr. Anand earned his medical degree at the University of Bombay in India and completed residencies at University of Bombay as well as the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London, Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Gunnar B. J. Andersson, MD (Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, Chicago). Dr. Andersson is a deputy editor for Spine, an international peer-reviewed journal. He is a spine surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush as well as the The Ronald L. DeWald, M.D. Professor and chairman emeritus of the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is currently president-elect and treasurer of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He has previously served as chairman of the research committee at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Ali Araghi, DO (The CORE Institute, Phoenix). Dr. Araghi serves as a deputy editor for the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Phoenix-based The CORE Institute and serves on the board of directors for the American Board of Spine Surgery. He is also a member of the North American Spine Society and American Osteopathic Association. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, reconstructive spine surgery and arthroplasty. Dr. Araghi earned his osteopathic medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. Hyun Bae, MD (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles). Dr. Bae is a deputy editor for the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He is an orthopedic spine surgeon at the Cedars-Sinai Spine Center and director of spine education. He has a professional interest in minimally invasive surgery, motion preservation technology, artificial disc replacement and non-fusion technologies. He was among the first to use growth factor tissue engineering for intervertebral discs and chaired the "Spine Across the Sea" meeting in 2012 for the North American Spine Society. Dr. Bae earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., and completed his residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Scott D. Boden, MD, (Emory Healthcare, Atlanta). Dr. Boden serves as a deputy editor of Spine, an international peer-reviewed journal. He is director of Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center in Atlanta. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the North American Spine Society, American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His areas of clinical interest include cervical fusion, anterior lumbar interbody fusion, disc degeneration, lumbar fusion and spinal infections. He holds six different patents and his research focuses on spine fusion, spinal disorders and bone regeneration. Dr. Boden earned his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, completed an internship at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and received fellowship training at Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland.


 
Christopher Bono, MD (Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston). Dr. Bono is a deputy editor for The Spine Journal and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is an orthopedic surgeon and chief of spine service at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is also an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston. His clinical interests include herniated disc management, spinal stenosis, spine fractures and spondylolisthesis. He has published over 55 peer-reviewed articles and has edited two textbooks of spinal surgery. Dr. Bono earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center. Frank Cammisa, MD (Hospital for Special Surgery, New York). Dr. Cammisa is a deputy editor for the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He is the chief of spine service at Hospital for Special Surgery, and he is an associate professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, computer-assisted spinal surgery, athletic spinal injuries and motion-preserving procedures. He has treated professional athletes from the New York Knicks, New York Giants and New York Jets. He is a member of the International Society for the Study of Lumbar Spine and Cervical Spine Research Society. Eugene Carragee, MD (Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, Calif.). Dr. Carragee is the editor-in-chief of The Spine Journal, the official journal of the North American Spine Society. He serves as chief of the spinal surgery division as well as director of the orthopedic spine center at Stanford Hospital & Clinics in Palo Alto. He also serves as a spinal consultant for varsity and NCAA teams at Stanford. His clinical interests include adult reconstructive spine surgery, disc surgery, cervical lumbar fusion and spinal deformity. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. Jeffrey S. Fischgrund, MD (William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich.). Dr. Fischgrund was named editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2009. Dr. Fischgrund is a spine surgeon at Beaumont Orthopaedic Center in Royal Oak, Mich. He is also a professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, Mich. His research interests include bone morphogenic proteins and cervical disc replacements. He has also authored a number of scientific articles and textbook chapters on spine surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Michigan Orthopaedic Society. Zoher Ghogawala, MD (CSI-Greenwich Neurosurgery, Greenwich, Conn.). Dr. Ghogawala is a deputy editor, neurosurgery, for The Spine Journal, the official journal of the North American Spine Society. He is a neurosurgeon with CSI-Greenwich Neurosurgery, Greenwich, Conn., and director of the Wallace Trials Center at Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital. He also serves as chairman of neurosurgery at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Mass. He is on the spine executive committee of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons-Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Spine Section. Thomas Mroz, MD (Cleveland Clinic). Dr. Mroz serves as the medical editor of SpineLine OnLine, a clinical and news magazine for spine care professionals, a publication of the North American Spine Society. He is a spine surgeon in the departments of orthopedic surgery, neurological surgery as well as the Center for Spine Health at Cleveland Clinic. He is also the director of the spine surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. He has a professional interest in radiculopathy, myelopathy, stenosis, disc herniations, cervical disc replacement, cervical infections and cervical deformity. He is on the biologics board of the North American Spine Society and the research committee of AO Spine North America. Eeric Truumees, MD (Seton Spine and Scoliosis Center in Austin, Texas). He is a spine surgeon with Seton Spine and Scoliosis Center and is North American Spine Society's director of the administrative and development council. He is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Rothman Institute as well as director of the spine program and the vice chairman of the department of orthopedics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. James Weinstein, DO (Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System, Lebanon, N.H.). Dr. Weinstein is editor-in-chief of Spine, an international peer-reviewed journal. He is a spine surgeon and president and CEO of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System, a position he assumed in 2011. Prior to his current role, Dr. Weinstein served as president of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic and director of The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He founded the multidisciplinary spine center at Dartmouth and was chairman of the departments of orthopedics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Dartmouth Medical School from 2002-2010. He is a founding member of the High Value Healthcare Collaborative, a partnership of 19 health systems across the country that aims at improving healthcare while lowering costs. Dr. Weinstein earned his degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Hansen Yuan, MD, (State University of New York Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, N.Y.). Dr. Yuan is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He is an orthopedic spine surgeon and professor emeritus of the department of orthopedic and neurological surgery at the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center. He is active in research and has authored more than 100 abstracts for peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include topics such as degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, bone healing and bone substitute. He is a past president of the International Society for the Advancement of Spinal Surgery. He is also a member of the American Medical Association and Orthopaedic Research Society.
