NASS, Others Ask Congress for Permanent SGR Repeal, Not 9-Month Patch

As Congressional leaders debate the upcoming debt-limit extension and healthcare policy, healthcare organizations including the North American Spine Society are working hard to advocate on behalf of patients and physicians to allow continued access to care.

The debt ceiling is set to expire Feb. 27 and initial plans for the extension would have attached a nine-month patch for the sustainable growth rate. However, NASS and other medical societies urged Congress to finish work in the joint House and Senate committees to pass permanent SGR repeal this year, according to a Spine on the Hill blog post.

The organizations expressed concern over another SGR fix, and NASS is still considering whether to support SGR legislation released last week.
