30 Statistics on Median Physician Compensation in 2011

Cardiac surgeons and orthopedic surgeons continue to be among the most highly paid physicians, but hematologists and medical oncologists witnesses the largest one-year jump in compensation in 2011, according to the American Medical Group Association's 2012 medical group compensation and financial survey.
AMGA, partnering with compensation firm Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, mailed out the survey in January 2012 and received valid responses from 225 medical groups, representing roughly 55,800 physicians.

Here are 30 statistics on physician compensation across 30 specialties from the AMGA's report. Note: All data below reflect compensation recorded in the 2011 calendar year. All data are also medians.
