20 Hospitals With New, Expanded Orthopedics Centers

Here are 20 hospitals and health systems that opened new orthopedic centers or significantly expanded orthopedic services over the past few months.

 

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital broke ground on a new 60,000-square-foot facility for Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in June.

 

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Erie County Medical Center received state approval for a $12.5 million expansion of its orthopedic department.

 

Premier Health Specialists opened Advanced Ankle and Foot Specialists at Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, Ohio in June.

 

Excela Health received a $3 million state grant to pay for the design and construction of an orthopedic treatment center in Hempfield, Pa., in July.

 

Great Falls, Mont.-based Benefits Health System added Great Falls Orthopedic Associates, a 12-physician practice, which is now also part of Benefits Medical Group.

 

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center's Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center in Salida, Colo., expanded its practice to Westcliffe, Colo.

 

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery is planning a satellite office in Paramus, N.J.

 

The University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor launched the new Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Center in May, bringing together 250 physicians from 10 subspecialties.

 

Wyoming, Mich.-based Metro Health expanded it's partnership with Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan to establish a sports medicine program—OAM/Metro Sports Medicine—which includes six primary care sports medicine physicians and five orthopedic surgeons.

 

At the end of April, Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health received approval from the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency to expand orthopedic services by renovating space at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital.

 

Camden, N.J.-based Cooper University Health Care and Inspira Medical Center Woodbury (N.J.) formed a joint venture for expanded orthopedic care called Cooper Bone and Joint Institute at Inspira Woodbury.

 

The Abington (Pa.) Health Orthopaedics & Spine Institute opened a new unit at Abington Memorial Hospital.

 

Colorado Springs-based St. Francis Medical Center unveiled a 33-bed spine and joint center in mid-July.

 

Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Medical Center unveiled an expansion and renovation of the Orthopedics and Neurosciences Center that includes 12 new private patient rooms and a nursing station for comprehensive total joint replacement and spine surgery.
 
United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va., is building the UHC Orthopaedic and Spine Center, a 57,000-square-foot facility that includes rehabilitation, orthopedic and neurosurgery services.
 
Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta established a dedicated orthopedic joint and spine center.
 
Pasco, Wash.-based Lourdes Health Network planned a new inpatient unit as part of its Joint & Spine Center.
 
Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, S.C., opened the Center for Advanced Joint and Spine Care.

 

Columbus-based OhioHealth announced plans for $91 million in improvements at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield (Ohio) Hospital and OhioHealth MedCentral Shelby (Ohio) Hospital, which will include expanded orthopedic services such as spine services.
 
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (N.J.) established the Center for Orthopedic & Spine Health.
