Aesculap Implant Systems made the S4 Element MIS System available for posterior lumbar pedicle screw fixation systems for endoscope technology to gain direct visualization.

The S4 Element MIS is designed to minimize risk of open conversion during minimally invasive procedures. The system's slim profile instrumentation and proven implant stability allows for a simple approach to percutaneous lumbar spinal fusion procedures.

Peyman Pakzaban, MD, of Houston MicroNeurosurgery in Pasadena, Texas, said the system was "a simple, intuitive and elegant system that has many unique features that address the needs of both experience and transitioning MIS surgeons."

Features also include direct surgical visualization, optimized operating room workflow, implant stability and reduced risk of conversion.
