SI-BONE received a patent on the systems and methods for bone fixation and fusion covering a threaded, fenestrated implant with a tapered distal end that can be placed from one bone across a joint into another bone.

The patent strengthens the company's portfolio covering rectilinear shaped implants for use in the fixation or fusion of any joint in the body. SI-BONE now has 13 patents and 29 patents pending. Outside of the United States, the company has one patent and 40 patents pending.

SI-BONE is known for its iFuse System, a minimally invasive surgical approach for the sacroiliac joint. The system includes titanium implants coated with a porous, titanium plasma spray designed to decrease implant motion and provide immediate fixation and allow for biological fixation to support long term fusion.
