Amedica entered into a private labeling agreement with Spinal Kinetics.
Amedica is a Salt Lake City-based biomaterials company that developed silicon nitride ceramics as a material platform to manufacture and commercialize orthopedic implants. Spinal Kinetics is a device company focused on artificial spinal disc technology.
Under the agreement, Amedica will provide Spinal Kinetics with sterile packed silicon nitride spinal interbody fusion devices for sale in worldwide markets. The terms of the agreement are non-exclusive.
"We look forward to fostering this strategic partnership with Spinal Kinetics and believe that this agreement, along with others in the coming months and year, will fortify our position as the innovative leader of medical-grade silicon nitride products," said Amedica CEO Sonny Bal, MD.
Earlier this month, Amedica also brought Eric Stookey onto its board of directors after Mr. Stookey spent time at Wright Medical Group.
