Here are 15 orthopedic surgeries for professional athletes, including the surgeons who performed them.
Jonathan Glashow, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Midtown Surgical Center, performed knee surgery on Minnesota Timberwolves’ Malcolm Lee, who injured his knee during play earlier this season. Following the knee procedure, Mr. Lee will undergo hip surgery performed by Bryan Kelly, MD, of Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
Dr. Kelly also performed hip surgery on New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Dallas Mavericks team physician T.O. Souryal, MD, performed anterior cruciate ligament repair for Minnesota Timberwolves’ Josh Hamilton, a former Dallas Maverick.
Michelle Carson, MD, a hand surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, will perform a surgical correction for Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Love, who injured his third and fourth metacarpals on his right hand.
Tennessee Titans team physician Burton Elrod, MD, performed shoulder surgery on quarterback Jake Locker, who dislocated his shoulder twice last season and fractured a bone on the second time.
Cleveland Clinic surgeons performed knee surgery on Cleveland Cavaliers’ Anderson Varejao, who was injured during play earlier in the season.
Surgeons at Cleveland Clinic also performed knee surgery on Cleveland Indians right handed pitcher Corey Kluber.
David Douglas, MD, performed ankle surgery on Indiana Fevers’ Katie Douglas to remove a bone chip and repair a torn tendon.
Washington Redskins team physician James Andrews, MD, performed knee surgery on Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who aggravated a knee injury during the play offs.
Dr. Andrews also performed surgery on Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger, who was diagnosed with patellar tendinosis.
