Lack of time is the main reason, employed physicians note, they don't spend more time on personal financial planning, according to the 2014 Employed Physicians Financial Preparedness Report by AMA Insurance.
The survey includes responses from 2,073 U.S. physicians.
When asked why they don't spend more time on personal or family financial planning, respondents reported:
• Lack of time — 56 percent
• Not my area of expertise — 25 percent
• Someone else in my family handles on — 8 percent
• Don't think about it — 6 percent
• Isn't a priority — 3 percent
