David Chao, MD, has sued Smith & Nephew for $2.2 million after performing a failed hip surgery using the company's implant, according to a Mass Device report.
Dr. Chao recently settled a $2.2 million malpractice lawsuit, and in the new suit he alleges Smith & Nephew's surgical scissors for the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing implant are to blame, according to the report.
