St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland and the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron (Ohio) announced an innovation partnership that will initially focus on orthopedics.
Through the partnership, surgeons at the hospital, which is part of Cleveland-based Sisters of Charity Health System, will have access to engineering and technology development resources to create medical devices and solutions.

ABIA's biomedical engineers and St. Vincent surgeons will work together to identify unmet clinical needs and problems that present opportunities for new products. ABIA will then provide market and intellectual property analysis, regulatory strategy, engineering design, prototype development and testing to help commercialize new solutions, according to the news release.
