Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, Calif., has named Michael J. Patzakis, MD, medical director of orthopedic research and education.
In his new role, Dr. Patzakis will oversee the development and growth of the recently-launched center and supervise the total joint research and fellowship program. He will also manage the inaugural clinical research programs in sports medicine and spine.
Dr. Patzakis previously served as the chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and has been principle investigator on more than 60 research studies throughout his career.
