Medical Liability Update: New Georgia Law Strengthens Physician Protection

A new Georgia law offers additional protection for physicians against medical liabilities, according to an American Medical Association report.
The new law prohibits the use of federal standards or guidelines "designed to enhance access to high-quality healthcare" to construct new legal action against physicians. The law is intended to safeguard against medical liability abuse and avert civil actions against physicians, which has increased medical liability insurance premiums and reduced access to care, according to the report. This means if physicians don't meet quality improvement metrics, it can't be used against them in medical liability cases.
