South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced that he will appoint R. Blake Curd, MD, president of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Orthopedic Institute, to the South Dakota State Senate.
Dr. Curd has represented District 12 in the state House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and has worked as an associate professor at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.
He currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors for Surgical Management Professionals, director for Physician Hospitals of American and manager for Medical Facilities Corp.
